This
is the third year of the Figurative Art Prize which were such a success
during the last two years.
We
contacted forty eight art schools and had nominations of sixty three candidates
- (either final year undergraduate or postgraduate students) who submitted
examples of their works on CDrom. After the first shortlist, when candidates
were invited to present their actual work, the jury selected ten to participate
in the forthcoming exhibition.
The
four finalists who share the £10,000 prize money are Siro Carraro
and Paul Morrison (£3,000 each); joint second prize winners: Ken
Watts and Emma Cousin (£2,000 each).
Most
of the candidates have not exhibited previously and this is an ideal opportunity
therefore to purchase works by up-and-coming artists at the beginning
of their career.
The
invited artists come from different parts of the UK but they are united
in their aspiration to create good and enduring artworks.
In
addition to the 2007 shortlisted artists, we shall devote half of the
gallery to winners and shortlisted candidates of the 2005 and 2006 Boundary
Gallery Prize for Figurative Art competition.
