Boundary Art Prize for Figurative Art 2006

21 April – 6 May 2006

This is the second year of the Figurative Art Prize which was such a success last year.

We contacted twenty art schools and had nominations of fifty candidates – (either final year undergraduate or postgraduate students) who submitted examples of their works either as CDs or slides. Of these, the jury shortlisted twenty to submit actual works – up to four per person.
From these, the jury invited seventeen to participate in the forthcoming exhibition.
The four finalists who share the £10,000 prize money, were announced on the opening night of the exhibition.

Most of the candidates have not exhibited previously and this is an ideal opportunity therefore to purchase works by up-and-coming artists at the beginning of their career.

The works this year were more varied – and there was plenty of evidence that there is an increasing emphasis on draughtsmanship.

The invited artists come from different parts of the UK but they are united in their aspiration to create good and enduring artworks.
